1st Electrician (1st ETO) – Explora Journeys – Jobs In Ships: Are you looking for an Electrician job in Ship? Then the is an opportunity for you. This is an exciting opportunity for a world-class 1st Electrician Engine to join the newly created luxury travel brand “Explora Journeys”. The 1st Electrician will be responsible for overseeing the maintenance of all electrical equipment throughout the ship, hotel, and engine room. They will report daily to the Chief Electrician.

Key Responsibilities

  • Be on board the vessel at any time the Chief Electrician is absent from the ship.
  • Consult daily with the Chief Electrician or Staff Engineer concerning methods and procedures for the maintenance and upkeep of the electrical equipment in general.
  • Assign maintenance and repair duties to electricians and actively supervise any overhaul and repair work.
  • Inspect all related work in progress, and on completion, assure that manpower is utilized to the fullest extent, that work is executed properly in accordance with acceptable standards, and that no wastage of materials occurs.
  • Supervise the use of appropriate material for maintenance, assuring required safety for personnel and equipment.
  • Assure correct disposal of garbage to comply with International, National, and Company regulations.
  • Train personnel assigned to one’s electrical watch (particularly new personnel) to follow safe working practices, ensuring that functions are fully recognized by each member and that work done and the manner of performance conforms to established standards.
  • Prepare requisitions and spare parts, submitting them to the Chief Engineer for approval.
  • Oversee the inventory of materials on hand and on order; receiving and signing for materials, ensuring they are properly labeled, preserved, stowed, and secured to avoid loss from damage or deterioration.
  • Ensure control over the issue and use of materials to prevent waste.
  • Be responsible for the good completion of the electrical associated work permits and risk assessment which cover one’s team’s activities.
  • Ensure that the electrical-related measurements, inspections, and reporting specified in the Company SMS forms are correctly fulfilled in due time.
  • Always operate with full consideration for the comfort of Guests.

Qualifications

  • Certificate of Competence III/6 ETO
  • Satisfy the requirements regarding health and physical requirements of the Flag State of the Ship
  • Good supervisory skills allow one to manage workload and priorities
  • Straightforward problem-solving and collaborative teamwork mind
  • Ability to work under sustained pressure and know how to manage a crisis when an unexpected event occurs
  • A good standard of interpersonal and public relations with Guests at all levels

VISA REQUIREMENTS

  • All other certifications (including visas etc.) required including Compliance with the requirements of STCW 95 regarding certification for this position and all documents in force at the time of his employment to comply with the Flag State requirements of the ship to which he is assigned.
  • He/she must be in possession of a valid Panama Seamen Book.
  • IT/Equipment expertise
  • Computer literacy and ability to operate office equipment
  • Basic Windows-based program knowledge

Language Capability

    • Fluent in oral and written English (working and safety language of the Company) Explora Fleet English Level: B2
    • Ability to speak, read, and write in Italian is a major benefit and may be a requirement
    • The ability to speak, read, and write in any major other language is considered a major advantage

The 1st Electrician is responsible for all electrical work on the ship, including the hotel and engine room. They must be able to supervise other electricians, solve problems, and work under pressure. They must also be able to speak and write English fluently, and preferably Italian as well.
